11:42 am - The Power of Choice

Choose to love—rather than hate.

Choose to smile—rather than frown.

Choose to build—rather than destroy.

Choose to persevere—rather than quit.

Choose to praise—rather than gossip.

Choose to heal—rather than wound.

Choose to give—rather than grasp.

Choose to act—rather than delay.

Choose to pray—rather than despair.

Choose to forgive—rather than curse.

Each day brings a new opportunity to choose.

What kind of choices will you make today?

(thanks hollow_warrior)

The va_tech community is getting bombed with love and condolence posts by people from all over the world.

It's so neat to see.

11:41 pm - Hey Everyone

Hey  Everyone,
I am new. To this journal and to Live Journal.  I am really needing some inspiration to help me through this week. Its really  a busy week, and it seems like i have been playing an awful game of catch-up while ten more things get piled on. And stressful. I am sure you have days, weeks like that --so you know how it goes.

I hope everyone has a good night

5:27 pm - Thought for the day - You are better off than billions. Be grateful :)

If you woke you this morning with more health than illness,
you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of
imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation, you are
ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest,
torture, or death, you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead,
and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish
someplace, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are alive and married, you are very rare.

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful,
you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder,
you are blessed because you can offer a healing touch

If you can read this message you've just received a double blessing in that
someone was thinking of you, and furthermore, you are more blessed than over
two billion people in the world that cannot read at all.

Have a good day, count your blessings, and pass this along to remind everyone
else how blessed we all are.

It is possible to begin again. It is hard, and we never do it perfectly, but it can be done.

Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are but princesses that are waiting to see us act just once with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything terrible is in its deepest essence, something helpless that needs our love.

6:27 pm - Breaking From The Mold, or... Possibly Spamming?

Heya folks, I just took a good hard look at the info page of this community:

"This is a space for sharing inspiring and hopeful thoughts. All quotes are acceptable, but remember this is not a religious space, it's a spiritual space. Also, please appropriately attribute all quotes.

I started this community because I wanted a space to read and share uplifting and peaceful thoughts so I make sure to reflect on positive and loving messages. I thought with the recent events, it would be good to reinforce some ideas that are not violent or angry."

So, I'm breaking from the mold here, I suppose... the info page mentions quotes, but does not limit us to quotes. And as some folks know, I like to break norms...

Well... I have some "uplifting and inspiring thoughts", which are also "positive and loving". They're posed in the form of meme's, so you can share them if you like... the first two are important to me and many other people, the third was just positive, and the fourth was a meme I had not heard, so I made one whether or not it already exists, lol.

Cut for your sanityCollapse )

Cool... and here's a quote for those of you that like quotes:

"Have a nice day!"
-The Best Person Ever

Mantra from the last couple of weeks:

"Love is an act of endless forgiveness, a tender look which becomes a habit."

It's been thought fodder for me... Maybe it is for you, too.

I don't know who said this first, but it helps me "get over it" and get back to living the life I want to live whenever I get into a nasty frame of mind about the past (mentally reproaching myself or others):

Forgiveness is giving up all hope of a better past.

3:03 am - Meh, I like this place, I'm new-ish here too

Meh, I haven't been here long, but I like what yeh folks have to say. I'm a fanatic optimist, and this place gives me more wisdom to share with people, or helps me put my day into perspective... thanks!

Meh, I don't have much to say yet, nor do I have access to quotes of other folks, except I have some of mine:

"Never show fear, only concern. Fear creates panicked accidents, concern creates quick reasoning and wiser reactions."
-NightFurson (I think it was me, I haven't heard it elsewhere)

"Make an effort to cheer someone up, and be their friend. The world is a brighter place when we're not the only ones in it."

"Are you sharpshooting me? Are you standing in my cornflakes? 'Cause let me tell you something about standing in someone's cornflakes... that's a weird way to eat cornflakes."
Hoss Delgado (Spelling?...) from the show "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy"

In any case, I look forward to good times here ^_^

Edit: The one problem I see about this place so far, is that most folks here seem to simply quote other people...
"You don't have to be well known or popular to say something deep or meaningful... try it, share your thoughts!"
